ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY

Echocardiography is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses ultrasound waves to create real-time images of the heart. It allows healthcare professionals to assess heart structure, function, and blood flow to help diagnose a wide range of cardiac conditions. Ready to start?

This 12-month course is broken down into two parts: didactic and clinical.

Didactic Portion - The didactic portion of this course occurs in a 6-month-long semi-asynchronous online format with scheduled examination times. Learn on your own time and dive into the course content whenever works with your schedule! Each student will simultaneously learn with personal simulators that provide them with the motor skills necessary to complete the daily tasks of an echocardiographer. During the didactic portion, 3 separate in-person training sessions are required for student attendance. This gives students the opportunity to learn face-to-face with Robert and Hannah, put their simulator skills to the test, and work with alumni who know the feeling of being in your shoes.

Clinical Portion - The clinical portion of this course requires students to participate in clinical rotations for 6 months at their assigned laboratory location on a full-time basis. Clinical assignments are given after admission of the cohort and are assigned based on location and admission placement.

What Are The Didactic Classes?

Echo 101: Introduction to Echocardiography

Echo 101 begins the course with a foundation on anatomy, physiology, and the intricacies of cardiac function.

Echo 102: Understanding Echocardiography

Echo 102 dives deeper into the pathological findings that echo techs need to understand and recognize in the diagnosis of their patients.

USP 101: Physics, Principles, and Instrumentation

USP 101 gives students the knowledge and confidence to drive the ultrasound machine to its best ability. You'll learn the physics of how ultrasound works, how each control on the machine is best utilized, and what to do in order to achieve the best quality image.
